As this year's Korean professional baseball season sets a new record for the largest number of spectators in a season, sales at restaurants near the baseball stadium have increased by up to 23% compared to the previous year.

According to an analysis of credit card sales generated by restaurants around 9 baseball stadiums (based on home games) conducted by Korea Credit Data on the 25th, the average daily sales of restaurants near Sajik Stadium in Busan (home team Lotte Giants) increased by 22.9% compared to the previous year.

Sales at restaurants near Jamsil Stadium (Doosan Bears, LG Twins) increased by 18.5%, followed by Daejeon Stadium (Hanwha Eagles) by 16.2%, Gwangju Stadium (KIA Tigers) by 11.0%, and Changwon Stadium (NC Dinos) by 5.0%.

Korea Credit Data explained that it calculated the daily average of all credit card sales that occurred at restaurants within a 1.5km radius of the stadium on game days (three hours before the start of the game and three hours after the end) during the first half of this year's and last year's seasons (before the opening game and All-Star break).

Korea Credit Data analyzed that "the home team's good performance or 한국을 expectations for popular coaches and players are likely to be one of the main factors influencing the increase in sales at nearby restaurants."

The explanation is that the increase in sales near Sajik Stadium (Lotte) may have been due to expectations surrounding newly appointed 'master coach' Kim Tae-hyung, and in the case of Daejeon Stadium (Hanwha), the return of Ryu Hyun-jin may have had an effect.

Korea Credit Data estimated that the good performance of the home team KIA, currently in first place, would have helped increase sales in the commercial area surrounding Gwangju Stadium.

Meanwhile, as a result of additional analysis of commercial areas near stadiums where sales increased, it was recorded that Chinese food sales increased the most at Sajik Stadium (32.5% increase year-on-year), Western food sales increased the most at Daejeon Stadium (65.8%), and fish and seafood sales increased the most at Gwangju Stadium (29.9%).
